Do you collect Chemin de Fer post cards? If so, you are a member of a very small and elite group. For more than a decade I have been collecting these beautiful French Railroad advertising cards and have met only two other people who collect them. Neither of them however collected them for the same reason I do.
I have compiled this checklist in an attempt to define the field. Over the years I have asked several dealers if they could make a guess as to how many of these cards there are. Even from the dealers who are familiar with the Chemin de Fer cards, the answer is always the same. No one knows. One European dealer took a wild guess and suggested there may be nearly one hundred, but in truth no one I've talked to knows.
